This sauce is a love letter to our summers spent camping. Growing up in Northwestern Ontario, it was Quetico, Neys, and Algonquin Park. We tried to bottle the feeling. Something that pairs equally with breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs and fresh caught fish.

Campfire Steak with CAMP SAUCE

Ingredients:

For the Steak:
• 4 boneless steaks (1¼ to 1½ inches thick) (Chicken, lamb or your choice of meat)
• 2 tbsp canola or extra-virgin olive oil
• Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper to taste 

For the Sauce:
• ½ cup ketchup
• 2½ to 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tbsp brown sugar
• 2 tbsp CAMP SAUCE Heartbeat Hot Sauce
• 1 tbsp mustard
• 1 tbsp cider vinegar
• ⅛ tsp salt
• ⅛ tsp pepper

Instructions:
1. Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, combine ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, CAMP SAUCE, mustard, cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
2. Season the Steaks: Brush steaks with olive oil and season generously with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.
3. Grill the Steaks: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
4. Apply the Sauce: During the last minute of grilling, brush the prepared sauce onto each side of the steaks.
5. Rest and Serve: Remove steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes. Serve with additional CAMP SAUCE on the side for an extra kick.

Note: This recipe pairs wonderfully with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, enhancing the smoky and sweet flavors of the dish.
